This kind of connection is commonly used with a paid service plan.
A softphone, also known as a Digital phone or internet phone, is a piece of software that is installed onto a computer which allows VoIP calling without any external hardware. The advantage of using a softphone versus one of the other methods is that it provides you with the ability of having a fixed number that goes with you when you move, regardless if it is across the street, or to another state. Virtual Call Centers are actually utilizing softphones as a means of implementing their operations.
